Today, November 29th, we have been at the II Professional Meeting of the Sustainable Gastronomic Routes of ExtremaduraVerdehesa, taking advantage of the opportunities offered by this framework of public-private collaboration around cheese and Iberico-Dehesa de Extremadur, two tourism product clubs promoted by the General Directorate of Tourism, to which Verdehesa belongs.
During the meeting, the importance of the members working together, cooperating and positioning Extremadura in the national and international market was highlighted. This effort to position Extremadura as a gastronomic destination must be a shared effort as a result of the promotional policies of the Junta de Extremadura and also of the regional councils, town councils and tourism companies in the region.
During the meeting, a review was made of all the promotional activities carried out during the year, such as the publication of material, the presence at various trade fairs, congresses and hiring exchanges or the participation in the summer and autumn Gastroexperiences programThe gastronomic offer has had a prominent place in press and travel agent trips.
The Sustainable Gastronomic Routes of Extremadura involve the sustainable transformation of the resource into a gastronomic tourism product. The region has exceptional products with certified quality, which is why Extremadura’s gastronomic tourism offer is linked to these products, under the Extremadura Gourmet promotional brand. These routes highlight products and liturgies around some of the most unique and representative foods of the region, such as ham and Iberian products, cheeses, olive oils as well as wines and cavas.
