Augusta Emerita” was created as an idealized mirror of Rome, first as a colony (25 BC) and then (15 BC) distinguished as the capital of Lusitania, the westernmost province of the Roman Empire, which has survived to the present day preserving an immense and rich heritage that has made it worthy of being recognized as a World Heritage Site.
We guide you in an exclusive itinerary designed to your needs through the constructive legacy of Merida, so that you can see most of the remains of the ancient Roman Colony (Theater, Amphitheater, Circus, the Temple of Diana, the Arch of Trajan or the Roman Bridge) as well as unique buildings from the Visigothic and Muslim periods (especially the Arab Alcazaba), and the two museums: the National Museum of Roman Art and the Visigothic Collection.
