Herding the flock

Become true transhumant shepherds. You will be able to show your skills guiding a flock of sheep along the Cañada Real Trujillana to the Old Bridge located in the Arroyo de la Vid (3 km), and then continue along the cattle track to Villarreal de San Carlos (10 km), in the heart of Monfragüe.

You will walk to the rhythm of the herd, listening to the sound of the cowbells and enjoying the natural landscapes of the National Park that open up to meet the cattle. At the end of the trail, it will be time to reward yourself and enjoy some of the delicacies of the shepherd’s gastronomy. Do you dare?

• Only the first section of the route from Torrejón el Rubio to Arroyo de la Vid (6 km round trip) can be done accompanying the herd. In this case the estimated duration of the route is 3 hours. Consult prices for this option.
• There is the possibility of combining the activity with visits to the “Astronomical Observatory” and the interpretation centers of “Legends of Monfragüe” and “Rock Art” in Torrejón el Rubio. Ask us for more information.
