Route through the landscapes of Las Villuercas

The region of Villuercas Ibores Jara treasures an extraordinary natural heritage with an enormous wealth of species and emblematic habitats, in addition to a unique geological heritage, a particular modeling of the landscape (apalachense relief) and places where rocks and fossils tell us the history of the earth in this place, witnessed one of the main events in the evolution of life: the origin and radiation of the first animals.

These are places of special geological interest that are also of cultural interest, with shelters full of cave paintings, Vetons forts and Arab castles, in addition to the mining heritage, both minerals and archaic infrastructures related to water management.

A climb to the Villuerca cliff (with an altitude of 1,603 m) or to the viewpoint of Cabañas with its Arab fortress; a tour through the gorge of Ruecas or the sacred berrocal and the archaeological park of Berzocana; a forest bath among magical forests of chestnut and monumental oaks next to the Chorrera del Calabazas; or down to the Costanaza Mine are some of the many activities that you can do in the Geopark Villuercas Ibores Jara and its surroundings.
