When Alfonso VIII founded the city of Plasencia to “please God and men” he surely did not imagine that eight centuries later, it would continue to enchant those who visit…

Visiting the monumental jewel of Plasencia is an unavoidable plan to learn about some of the most important chapters in the history of Spain and Extremadura.

But in addition, this year 2022 we have had in Plasencia the most important exhibition of sacred art in the country: “Las Edades del Hombre: Transitus“, which has been the perfect excuse for many groups to enjoy interesting and entertaining guided tours with us. touring the city, its monuments and its history.

If you were not able to see the exhibition, you can do it virtually here: https://transitus2022.com/visita-virtual/

The XXVI edition of Las Edades del Hombre will be held in the Cáceres town of Plasencia between May and December 2022.

This is the first occasion -except for the extraordinary editions held in Antwerp and New York- in which the exhibition leaves the borders of Castilla y León and enters Extremadura.

The exhibition is housed in the Cathedral of Santa Maria and its different chapters delve into the historical perspective of the city, its social and religious development and the importance that different characters had in the evangelizing expeditions to the New World.

All this, through a careful selection of 180 works, mostly from parishes, churches, congregations, communities, monasteries, museums and individuals from the entire autonomous community of Extremadura with its three dioceses, but also from Castilla y León, Madrid and Andalusia.
