Because in the Jerte Valley it’s not all about cherry trees, it’s time for chestnuts!
It is a traditional mountain crop, with leafy trees, where harvesting is done entirely by hand between the beginning of October and the end of November.
Did you know that according to the Forestry Plan of Extremadura there are approximately 9,500 ha of chestnut trees for fruit and wood? And that the Jerte Valley Cooperative Association annually collects about 2,500 tons of chestnuts?
