Autumn arrives and we are ambushed in one of our routes among centenary chestnut trees, such as those of Escondelobo and those of the Fuente de las Escobanchas, in the heart of the Jerte Valley.
These guardians of time are unique trees, marvels of longevity, survivors of the great masses of chestnut trees that once carpeted the shady mountainous area of Casas del Castañar.
